The "Miata Project" involves putting a 480 horsepower Corvette motor into a Miata. This does NOT screw up the handling, because the motor is all aluminum, and a lot of weight gets added to the rear tires as well. The whole thing should still come in under 2400 pounds. I am taking the opportunity to de-content the car to the maximum degree possible in order to save weight and make it a purist's (that's me) sports car. So no AC, power steering, power windows, air bags, radio, windshield washer, etc. The only place that I'm adding complexity is the 6 processor CAN bus based body wiring system. This will save quite a bit of weight in the wiring, and give me something to talk about in interviews when my sabbatical is over.
