Welcome to my home on the web!

I am the eldest of three children. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1959. My parents moved to the Santa Clara Valley in California, now more widely known as "Silicon Valley", in 1961. That's where I grew up. My father was a mechanical engineer, working on the space program in the '60's and early '70's, and satellites for Ford Aerospace later. He is now retired, devoting his time mainly to hectoring his children and starting new projects. I have one brother, Tom, born in 1961 (in Texas, unfortunately), who lives in Seattle, and one sister, Teresa, born in 1965, who lives near Denver. My mother, Pat, died in 1983. Don't smoke, it's stupid.

I moved to Spokane, Washington in 1980, and met my wife when I was in Junior College in 1989. We married in 1993, shortly after I graduated from Gonzaga University at the somewhat advanced age of 33. She is a high school math teacher. We moved to the Seattle area in late 1993 so that I could attend graduate school. We now live in Carnation, Washington, with 2 cats, Penelope and Guinivere.

So much for the bio...  My personal interests include automotive pursuits, reading, staying in shape, digital photography, shooting, and computer programming. Oh, and aerodynamic haircuts (see right). Really, just about anything.

I am an electrical engineer by training (BSEE, Gonzaga '93, MSEE, University of Washington '94) and an embedded software engineer by profession. On a professional level, I am interested in the design of microcontroller based systems of any type. You can find my resume here.

On these pages you will be treated to my rampant, undiluted opinion. It's worth every cent you paid for it. If you don't like it, make your own pages. There is also some useful information. :-)

This site was constructed completely by hand, in Vim (a Vi clone), under Ubuntu Linux. The pages are simple and hopefully fast loading. They are served by Apache running under OpenBSD. The site will look best when viewed at some reasonable resolution. I don't care about your iPhone (though Macs are cool).

You may contact me at "grubinski AT gmail DOT com" if you wish. Send flames to /dev/null.
